The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a sports car based on the Nissan Skyline series, produced from 1968 to 2002. The fifth and final generation of the car, designed by Kozo Watanabe and named in-house The GF-BNR34 (shortened to R34), was introduced in 1999 as the successor to the E-BCNR33 generation of the Skyline GT-R. The R34 is shorter and has less front overhang than its predecessors; The same 2.6L RB26DETT inline 6-cylinder engine was used with the R34, although it was now mated to a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission.
