Premiering in 2026, Stranger Things 5 will finally premiere to close the legendary journey in Hawkins.

Unlike previous seasons that typically split into two parts, Netflix went big with Stranger Things 5 by dividing the final season into three. This is a smart tactic to keep the show's momentum throughout the end-of-year holiday period in 2025:

Part I (Episodes 1 - 4): Premieres on November 26, 2025.
Part II (Episodes 5 - 7): Officially premieres today, December 25, 2025 (Christmas).
Final Part (Episode 8): Titled "The Rightside Up," will drop on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025.

Setting and Plot: Hawkins in Fall 1987

Season 5 is set in autumn 1987, about 18 months after the catastrophe at the end of season 4. Hawkins is currently under a full lockdown by the military after the Upside Down rifts ripped the town apart.

Vecna has laid out a plot to expand the Upside Down (the upside-down world) and to overtake Hawkins.
