After opening the box of a new Beyblade X, everyone is eager to assemble it right away to experience the blazing X-Dash bursts on the arena. However, Beyblade X features a completely new snap-fit mechanism, different from previous Beyblade lines. If assembled incorrectly or mounted in the wrong orientation, the top can easily come loose, burst open upon launch, or wear down valuable plastic latches.

Mastering how to assemble Beyblade X and the correct launcher technique from Takara Tomy will help you operate smoothly, optimize performance in battles, and keep the Beyblade durable and looking its best.

Structure of Beyblade X: Standard Line (BX/UX) and Custom Line (CX)

Depending on the product model you own, Beyblade X comes in two basic structural forms:

Standard 3-piece Line (Basic Line - BX and Unique Line - UX)

This is the most common structure, consisting of three blocks linked from top to bottom:

  • Blade: The metal ring at the very top, playing the role of the main collision surface and determining the fighting style (Attack, Defense, Endurance, or Balance).

  • Ratchet: Located at the center, it connects the Blade to the Bit and defines the Beyblade's height (for example: 3-60, 5-80).

  • Bit: The base that contacts the arena surface, incorporating gears that engage with the X-Treme Line track to trigger the X-Dash burst.

Deep customization line with 5 parts (Custom Line - CX)

In the CX line, the Blade portion is split into three separate pieces:

  • Main Blade: The metal ring that creates the main collision point.

  • Assist Blade: An auxiliary ring that adds weight or changes the contact surface.

  • Lock Chip: The locking core in the center with an Avatar creature emblem etched, acting as the pin that locks the Main Blade and Assist Blade into a single complete Blade assembly.

Detailed guide to assembling Beyblade X

The standard Blade-Ratchet-Bit assembly process is performed in sequence through the following 3 steps:

Step 1: Prepare and orient the Blade correctly

Turn over the underside of the Blade assembly to clearly observe the central snap groove. Check the embossed marks to determine whether the Beyblade is right-spin or left-spin (for example, Cobalt Dragoon) to define the locking orientation.

Step 2: Attach the Ratchet to the Blade

Place the top side of the Ratchet (the part with the protruding locking peg) against the corresponding grooves on the underside of the Blade.

While holding the Blade steady, gently rotate the Ratchet in the direction indicated by the arrows (for a right-spin Beyblade, rotate counterclockwise when viewed from the bottom) until you hear a definite click.

Note: The Ratchet block must sit absolutely flat on the underside of the Blade, not tilted.

Step 3: Attach the Bit to fix the entire Beyblade

Grip the Bit, align the Bit’s spindle with the Ratchet’s center, and press down firmly until you hear a click.

Note: After assembly, the Beyblade should be flat and secure, not loose. Do not twist the Bit by hand, as this can wear down the Ratchet’s locking peg.

⚠️ IMPORTANT RULES WHEN DISMANTLING:

When you want to disassemble the Beyblade, you MUST FIRST REMOVE the Bit, then rotate the Ratchet to release it. Do not forcefully twist the Ratchet while the Bit is still inserted, as this will break the Ratchet’s internal locking latches immediately!

Advanced tip: How to remove and reassemble the Lock Chip in Custom Line (CX)

(Note: When you first open the box, Takara Tomy has already pre-assembled the CX Blade assembly for you. You only need to follow this guide if you own multiple CX models and want to remove it to swap components):

How to remove the CX Blade assembly:

  • First remove the Bit and detach the Ratchet.

  • Turn over the underside of the Blade assembly: insert the Bit’s tip (or a dedicated CX Tool) into the Lock Chip’s bottom groove.

  • Gently rotate counterclockwise to release the latch, then lift the Lock Chip and separate the Main Blade from the Assist Blade. (Avoid using sharp objects on the top with the Avatar label to prevent scratching the sticker).

How to re-lock the new Blade assembly:

  • Place the Assist Blade into the underside of the Main Blade.

  • Place the Lock Chip from the top into the center. Use your finger (or insert the Bit from the bottom) and rotate clockwise until the Lock Chip locks the Blade assembly.

  • Proceed to install the Ratchet and Bit into the Blade assembly as usual.

Detailed guide to attaching Beyblade X to the launcher correctly

To ensure the Beyblade leaves the launcher stably and does not wear down the locking pegs, players should operate according to the following principles:

1. Check spin direction compatibility: Right-spin Beyblade uses a right-spin launcher; left-spin Beyblade (like the Cobalt Dragoon) must use a left-spin launcher (marked with L). Installing in the opposite direction will jam the gears and break the launcher locking peg.

2. Clip and lock the clamps: Place the launcher’s two latching hooks into the Beyblade’s grooves, then rotate slightly for a snug fit. Light handling—do not overtighten to avoid wearing the latches and damaging the launcher.

3. Safe launching stance: Position the launcher on a Beystadium floor area at about 15–20 cm, pointing the launcher head downward and pulling the cord firmly in a straight line.

What to do if Beyblade X doesn’t fit properly or pops loose early

If you encounter a Beyblade X that doesn’t assemble properly or shows unusual wobbling, recheck for the following causes:

  • Not fully engaged: When you turn the Ratchet or Lock Chip but haven’t fully engaged the mechanism, you might insert the Bit too soon, making it look assembled while the locking peg isn’t fully engaged. Remove the Bit, rotate the Ratchet fully into place, then reinsert the Bit.

  • Installed in the wrong direction: Left-spin Beyblade models (L) have a locking direction opposite to the standard line. Check the embossed marks on the Blade/Lock Chip and the included guide.

  • Debris in the grooves: Sand grains or small plastic dust stuck in the Ratchet or Lock Chip grooves can prevent the Bit from seating fully. Remove and clean with a soft brush.

  • Wear after long use: After hundreds of collisions, the Ratchet’s plastic locking ridges may wear down. At this point the Beyblade is more prone to popping; replace with a new Ratchet to restore burst resistance.

  • Check product origin: Counterfeit or non-official products often have large molding tolerances, causing the Lock Chip or Ratchet not to mesh, and can crack when forced.

Safety tips when playing Beyblade X

To ensure safe battles, parents and players should follow the rules from the manufacturer Takara Tomy:

  • Only use Beyblade X-compatible tops, launchers, and Beystadiums within the Beyblade X ecosystem. Do not mix with older generations such as Beyblade Burst or Metal Fight.

  • Place the Beystadium on the floor or a flat, stable surface. Maintain a safe distance and avoid leaning close to the arena when Beyblades are spinning at high speed.

  • Do not launch Beyblades toward others and do not insert your hand into the arena while a Beyblade hasn’t fully stopped.

  • Regularly inspect the toys; stop using if you detect cracks or broken parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Beyblade X parts be mounted with Beyblade Burst?

Absolutely not. Beyblade X has a completely new design and joints; the sizes are different, so it cannot be mounted with any previous Beyblade generation.

Can the CX Lock Chip fit BX or UX?

No. The Lock Chip is only usable on models within the Custom Line (CX). BX and UX lines have a one-piece Blade molded as a single block, so the central pin cannot be removed.

Why does Beyblade X pop off during a match?

Burst Finish is one of the valid competitive outcomes when the Beyblade endures strong impacts at the Ratchet’s weak points. However, if the Beyblade pops off as soon as it touches the arena, check whether you have a Half-click error or whether the Bit is fully seated at the Ratchet’s center.

Where to buy authentic Beyblade X Beyblades and Takara Tomy accessories?
