Orangutan, also known as wild man or forest man, is a genus of the hominin family, an extant group of primates in Asia. They are large animals, living more in trees than on the ground. It is a dark yellow-haired primate mixed with gray, adapted only to tropical life on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in Indonesia. They are the closest to humans both physically and intellectually. Orangutans are among the most intelligent primates and can use a range of sophisticated one-armed tools, as well as making a nightly nest out of tree branches and leaves. Orangutans' fur is usually reddish brown, instead of the brown or black typical of other great apes. Orangutans can live up to 60 years in captivity.
